What are Bach Flower Remedies? The 38 Bach Flower Remedies were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach (1886-1936), a British physician and bacteriologist. Dr. Bach sought to find the safest, simplest, and most pure method of healing his patients which would take into consideration the individual mental and emotional makeup of their personalities. He found that specific flower essences stimulated self-healing in his patients by clearing the negative emotional factors that affected their state of health. The remedies are derived from non-poisonous plants, shrubs and trees, and are prepared through the heating of the flowers with sunlight in spring water, or the boiling of twigs and flowers to extract the healing essence. These flower essence remedies are safe, non-toxic, non-addictive, and may be used in conjunction with any other medical or holistic treatment. What Can These Flower Essence Remedies Do for Me? The Bach flower remedies target the mental/emotional level of an individual, helping to clear negative emotions, mindsets, attitudes, and personality traits which can not only impede the body's ability to heal itself, but can also create roadblocks to peace and happiness. These remedies are useful in dealing with emotions and mental states such as fear and anxiety, depression, anger and resentment, excessive worry, low self-esteem, guilt, etc. The flower essence remedies are not taken for physical symptoms, although the body can better heal itself when emotional balance is restored. What is the role of a Bach Flower Therapy Practitioner and what can a Certified Practitioner offer me personally? A certified Bach Flower Therapy Practitioner has a thorough knowledge of each of the 38 flower essences used in this safe and natural healing method. Selection of the proper remedy or combination of remedies is essential to obtaining beneficial results. A practitioner will select remedies for a client based upon the client's individual needs and personality, eliminating any subjective guesswork on the part of the client. The practitioner's role is to help educate and assist a client in self-care with the Bach Flower remedies, and to facilitate the client's self-awareness. Clients are always actively involved in the remedy selection process, and recognize their responsibility in the improvement of their health and lives. When a client is confident with their own progress and knowledge of the essences, and recognizes the root cause of their mental/emotional stress, she/he is then encouraged by the practitioner to select their own remedies whenever needed.
